Gathering in New York from all over the United States for the annual Tartan Week festivities, members of Bruce Family International attended the official Observance Day ceremony in Bryant Park on 5th April, and joined the Tartan Day Parade on 6th Avenue the following day.
As an annual act of commemoration of the Declaration of Arbroath – medieval Scotland’s iconic testament of national sovereignty – National Tartan Day is held each year on 6th April. Instituted in 1998 as Resolution 155 by the US Senate and as Resolution 41 by the House of Representatives, Tartan Day recognises the “outstanding achievements and contributions of Scottish Americans to the United States”.
Lord and Lady Bruce attended as guests of the American Scottish Foundation and participated in over a dozen events in four days.
